In the Beginning...

For many months I have been a lurker. Yes, I admit it, I have read and lurked all over the world of knitting blogs.

I taught myself to knit by reading a book, then taught myself to knit socks by reading your blogs. I always have one or more socks on my trusty double pointed needles. At the present I have a Cookie A pattern going and also a lace sock started.

I have never knitted a sweater, but would like to find a nice tunic length vest pattern to work on with an off white part cotton yarn. If you have a recommendation, I'd like to hear it.

Retired from education, my husband (the big guy) has worked in several temporary jobs, but has now retired for good. He is a great house-husband who does the cooking, dishes, laundry and keeps up the lawn. I am also a retired teacher who has taken a parttime job as a medical coder and insurance clerk in a doctor's office. I love the job; I learn something every day. I have been working there for just over 5 years. I work 3 days a week and spend the other 4 days knitting, golfing with the big guy, playing with the dogs and cleaning house. (No, I don't cook except for the occasional breakfast.)

My husband and I are the proud parents of two pitbulls, Buster and Bunny. Buster is probably only part pit but he is the most loving and playful little guy ever. He is mostly brown and will be 5 years old on Mother's Day. He loves to tease his sister and sit on laps. (He makes a lapfull at 67 pounds!) Bunny is registered as "M....'s Baby Bunny." We delayed naming her until we got to know her personality. When we realized that she is always on the go, we named her after the Energizer Bunny. She is mostly white with brindle spots and she is only a year and a half. She was a Christmas present for me in 2006. Because of seizures, she is on medication that makes her gain weight and she weighs 65 pounds. That's about 10 lbs overweight for her frame.

This is my first attempt at blogging, I hope you will bear with me until I get the hang of it. I will learn to add pictures at some point. I've been good about documenting my socks with pictures. (Not so good about recording the pattern names or yarn labels. I will try harder.)

Until next time...
